Trådløs ECG monitoring med EPIC sensorer

Atlantik Elektronik er nu klar til at markedsføre Plessey's unikke kapacitive EPIC sensorer (in english). 

The remote examination of patients has been a goal for doctors since ages. Atlantik Elektronik now lets this dream come true with the capacitive EPIC sensors from Plessey.

Without the hassle of wiring the patient's body, capacitive EPIC sensors detect all significant ECG parameters that are transmitted via smartphone app or fitness watches to the patient and the physician. Instead of a bundle of electrodes now just two EPIC sensors can monitor the heart of the patient.

The target-oriented mobile patient monitoring is mainly used for verification that the patient's condition does not deteriorate. Risk patients can be monitored remotely over a longer period. Therapies can be tracked to prolong the lives of patients at a fraction of the cost of a hospital stay.

Plessey's EPIC sensor is optimized for ECG usage. It delivers at least as good or even better results than conventional electrodes. The EPIC sensor acts as an almost perfect voltmeter showing virtually no impact on the measured signal. The sensor electrode does not require ohmic contact to the patient's body, making the system structure electrically insulated.

The most important feature of Atlantik Elektronik’s presented capacitive EPIC sensor with bandwidths ranging from 0.01 Hz up to 100 kHz, is the AC behavior.
This makes the sensor independent of static electric fields, such as the field of the earth, enabling a stable operation over the entire frequency range.

The EPIC sensor allows very fast measurements, saving time and money in health care. Moreover, compared to contact electrodes that must adhere through the use of gels on the skin of the patient, it offers a higher level of comfort and more reliable results, as the measurements are carried out contactless. Without the gel, the cleaning of the sensors after an application is significantly easier.

With only two sensors placed left and right of the heart, such as the left and right hand or the left arm and right fingers of the patient, measures can be achieved.

Combined with Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy system solutions on module or IC-basis and customer specific Atlantik Elektronik iOS or Android Apps customers can be provided with an innovative solution package.

The health status surveillance of a person is greatly simplified no matter whether in the areas of e-health, sports, and fitness as well as automotive.
