CAT-M1 modul til IoT-applikationer
Atlantik Elektronik præsenteer Quectel´s første CAT-M1 modul, der sigter mod anvendelse i IoT-sammenhænge (in english).
Atlantik Elektronik presents the new Cat M1 module BG96 from Quectel, which will be a strong support for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The Quectel module BG96 supports the new LTE network of category M1 (Cat M1) and thus allows the connection of a larger number of devices to the Internet of Things (IoT). The market focus is extensive and will cover applications in many areas, such as the smart home/smart cities, security systems, industrial control and monitoring, asset and vehicle tracking, telematics, health and fitness, smart metering, smart cities, and wearables.
This latest module is based on Qualcomm chipset MDM9206 and specifically supports IoT applications with extreme low power consumption, as well as devices that require long battery lifetimes of up to 6-10 years. Thus significantly reduces maintenance costs and extended the long life time of IoT devices.
Quectel is the first Chinese manufacturer to have a 3GPP Release 13 module available in the market for the Q1 2017.
The BG96 module is anticipated to be available in time for the launch of the LTE Cat M1 network, and which is scheduled to achieve nationwide U.S. coverage by the end of the first quarter 2017.
Local network providers perform first base stations upgrades, which ensure an upcoming operation. The new cost-effective Cat M1 LTE module BG96 complements Quectel's extensive product range for the IoT market.
- We are pleased to see cost-effective LTE solutions such as Qualcomm´s BG96 come to market, which expands the portfolio of module solutions available for customers to connect to LTE Cat M1 network, says Ottmar Flach, General Manager Atlantik Elektronik GmbH.
